How enemies work

Enemies scale with depth, not with your build

A demo player argued that upgrading cards made every enemy sprout thorns and negates. Team Lazerbeam replied on the Steam forum that this "isn't how the game works at all" — the deeper you go underground the harder enemies get, and it is not a dynamic response to your deck.

Every enemy is edible

"All the enemies are edible" is how designer Ben Beam opens the dev diary. Killing with the right card leaves something to eat for health, or to throw in the pot for a soup.

Intents are shown before they land

Each enemy carries a bubble above it: a red blade with a number for incoming damage, a blue shield with a number for block. Multi-strike intents show the blade repeated with separate numbers.

Grey caps

The only enemy family named in official material: FLASH, one of the starting explore cards, "applies vulnerable to subterranean grey caps". The Facility's laboratories are implied to have been studying them.

The Gloom is a timer, not just a destination

Exploration punishes loitering — "overstay your welcome and The Gloom will take you into its cold embrace". Camping with WARMTH is the counter-pressure.

Why there are no enemy names here

Health values and intent icons below are read off the official Steam screenshots for app 3271280. Team Lazerbeam has not published an enemy list, so no names are invented here — each row says where it was seen and what is measurable. The one enemy family named in official material is the grey caps, from the Facility dev diary.

Steam's achievement page for app 3271280 returns an error until release, so the achievement list — normally the fastest route to a complete boss and enemy roster — is not available yet. It will be pulled and added here after September 10.

For the cards that turn a kill into healing — the fatal-triggered line the whole eating loop runs on — see the card list and the combat guide.
