What is Shroom and Gloom?
Shroom and Gloom is a first-person roguelike double-deckbuilder by Team Lazerbeam, published by Devolver Digital, arriving in Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026 for Windows and macOS. You build two decks at once — a combat deck for fights and an explore deck for the tunnels between them — and grow cheap cards into monstrous ones rather than hunting for rare drops. Every enemy is edible: roast one with a fatal hit and you can eat it back for health, or throw it in a pot for a soup. The free demo covers 26 handcrafted tunnels and sits at 96.8% positive across 1,112 Steam reviews, and the game passed 200,000 wishlists in June. Early Access adds two separate paths to The Gloom with entirely unique card pools and five playable characters. Start with the card list, the character roster or the beginner guide.

Get Started in 5 Steps
- Play the free demo first. It is a separate Steam listing and covers 26 tunnels — see the demo page for what it does and does not include.
- Learn the two decks. Green cards move you through tunnels, purple cards fight; the beginner guide covers the split.
- Read the card keywords. FATAL, TOASTY, LODGED and WARMTH carry most of the rules — all transcribed on the cards page.
- Kill with the right card. Fatal-triggered attacks are how you eat and heal; the combat guide explains intents and scaling.
- Plan for launch day. Two paths and five characters arrive on September 10 — see characters and the release date page.

FAQ
Is it called Shroom and Gloom or Shroom and Bloom?
Shroom and Gloom. "Shroom and Bloom" is a common mistyping — the Steam page, the itch.io prototype and every Team Lazerbeam dev log use Gloom, which is also the name of the realm you are travelling towards.
Is this the same thing as the Gloom-shroom from Plants vs. Zombies?
No. Gloom-shroom is an upgraded plant in Plants vs. Zombies; Shroom and Gloom is a first-person roguelike deckbuilder by Team Lazerbeam, published by Devolver Digital. The two share nothing but a word order.
When does Shroom and Gloom come out?
September 10, 2026, on Steam Early Access for Windows and macOS. The date was announced in the August 22 dev log and confirmed in Devolver Digital's launch trailer.
How This Wiki Is Kept Honest
Shroom and Gloom Wiki is an independent, unofficial fan resource for Shroom and Gloom players — not affiliated with Team Lazerbeam.
- How we verify: Card names, energy costs and enemy health are read off the ten official Steam screenshots and Team Lazerbeam dev logs — nothing enters a table here unless it is legible in a first-party image or written in an official post.
- Update cadence: Rebuilt after every Team Lazerbeam dev log and Early Access patch, starting with the September 10 launch build; every data table carries the date it was checked.
- What we don't do: No repack, crack or "free download" pages, and no invented card lists — where the demo and the Early Access build differ, both states are labelled rather than guessed.
